Tonight we have the new moon in Gemini, adding to the already active planetary alignments for the month. With four planets retrograde including Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto, this normally light-hearted moon is transformed into a far more inner-moving energy than you would expect from the sign of the Twins. That is the nature of retrograde planets in general, they reveal the ‘other side’ of our reality by bringing to the surface what is normally hidden from view.
We can expect to see these themes playing out on a global level as well as in our individual lives as some of us come out of lockdown and others have to bear with more restrictions for even longer. This new moon however has a positive aspect of trining Saturn, so it does bring with it the capacity for recovery and rebuilding what appears to be broken in our emotional worlds. Speaking of emotions, we mustn’t overlook the planet Venus which is also in the sign of Gemini, retrograding as it squares Neptune. Venus retrograde brings up issues of the heart with regards to our past. During this time we collectively get to see where our blocks are when it comes to giving and receiving love. We also get to learn how the idea of being free and unattached might drive us away from situations and people who might have much to teach us if we could rise above our mental (Gemini) fears of getting close. Of course how this Venus transit will affect you personally, will depend on where it falls in your birth chart. You can find out about this by booking an Astrology Reading with me.
Basically though, the theme of a Venus retrograde with the kind of new Moon energy we have tonight has the possibility of some bringing to the surface patterns that we thought we were rid of only to discover that they come up all over again. Both the Moon and Venus tend to make us quite emotional and they are both in tricky Gemini, making our emotions and thoughts get all tangled up, creating a vicious loop we are unable to detach from. The key to this is to relax and surrender into what is coming up, to stay present to whatever emotion is there without creating stories about it. And if the mind is too agitated and keeps telling stories, be present to it without getting attached to it. In this way, the energetic imprint of the pattern that is emerging will dissolve, leaving you with space and freedom.
You cannot fight against the ego and win, just like you cannot fight against darkness. The light of consciousness is all that is necessary. You are that light. - Eckhart Tolle
The new moon is aligned with the fixed star Alcyone at 0°. This is the central star of the Pleiades star cluster in the Shoulder of Taurus the Bull. Bernadette Brady in her book ‘Star & Planet Combinations, says about Alcyone at 0° “Insightful into the darker side of life. A gift of insight and mysticism, but leading to encounters with both the best and worst of human nature.” Alcyone is the main star of the Pleiades; this mysterious star cluster has many legends and myths attached to it. The Pleiades carry within them the archetypal energy of helping humanity evolve through purifying our astral and etheric bodies to receive higher wisdom. In order for this purification to occur, we will collectively go through the wringer, as is evidenced by the polarized way we have dealt with each other through the whole coronavirus pandemic. Alcyone is urging us to collectively take a long hard look at our egos, and ask ourselves the difficult questions.
The new moon at Alcyone 0°, amplifies the message of Saturn retrograde, which urges us to dig into our past to see what traumas are being triggered through our current experiences of lockdown. Nothing happens by accident and while Saturn aspects can feel the most painful on a psyche, they bear equal levels of reward if we are willing to take on the challenge head on and dissolve the stories that no longer work but rather cause us pain. Saturn in Capricorn is here to bring us face to face with these harsh realities as we make choices on both a personal and collective level, that will lead into the dissolution of all extractive and non-sustainable systems that are only in place because of our collective unconsciousness and blindness. Saturn has harsh lessons to teach, specially if we continue down the spiral that we have been on for centuries. More than any other planet, the Lord of Karma is encouraging us to awaken so that we can experience a different world.
This new world will only appear in our external reality if we experience the shift internally. As within, so without. Whether we like it or not, the time has come for change. We can either surrender to our higher selves and allow the new consciousness to blossom through us, or we can listen to voice of our egos that keep us blinded. And our life will reflect back to us what we are choosing on a deeper level. So if you want to align yourself to the inevitable changes that are coming, surrender. Surrender to the deeper wisdom within you, surrender to the love that dwells within. The rest will follow.
